Why don’t hotels allow me to book by the hour?

We took a road trip for spring break in college down to Florida. About half way, which for us was middle of nowhere Tennessee, we needed to get off the road for a while and sleep/sober up.

A few months ago, I had a short layover in Perth and just needed a place to freshen up, but most hotels weren’t flexible. Eventually, I found Mercure Perth on Hay, and it was a game-changer. They let me book for just a few hours, which made the layover much more comfortable. I feel like hotels could really benefit from offering this kind of flexibility, especially for people with tight schedules.
