I will just share, that it depends on what product you are shooting. Food has different requirements than small products, then medium sized, from cars. Apparel often needs models who can make the product look good.
As a product photographer, I keep a simple setup: Canon 5D Mark IV with a 100mm macro lens and a couple of Godox softboxes. I place items on a white sweep table with foam boards as fill cards. The key thing for me is controlling light spill and keeping highlights clean. I shoot tethered so I can fix small issues right away before doing any post work.
