🏅SUMMER 2025 LESSONS AVAILABLE - register now
Dear Parents,
My name is Elizabeth Couture, and students over the past 25 years of teaching young children have known me as “Ms Liz”, and kids from all over Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Aurora, and other towns in York Region, have attended my activity-filled weekly classes.
To find me again, or to pass on the information for the upcoming registrations, “Try-it” classes, and sessions for the Sunrise (age 3), Sunshine (age 4), Sunbeams (age 5 & 6), Moonbeams (age 7 - 9), and MY Choice (age 10 - 12) levels, which are all introductory / first year beginner courses, please use the following:
MYC.COM/TEACHER/ECOUTURE
The Music for Young Children program takes the students through a comprehensive and proven approach to learning, and all the teachers are part of a special “MYC Family”, trained and supported by a fully Canadian-based head office, supplies warehouse, and professional staff.
The method includes everything musical! Kids will learn by being engaged in well-rounded and well-planned lessons that include:
Singing (including hand signs Do-Re-Mi….) to develop listening and musicianship
Theory music concepts that use kid-friendly methods to teach dynamics, tempo, rhythm, and reading notes on the music staff
Composing and history of music, for creative expression and inspiration, and enter the MYC Annual Composition Festival
Drumming and rhythmic ensembles to build a foundation for counting music, to prepare for band and orchestra later in life
Keyboard playing solo and group experience, and motivational incentives, all with the gentle guidance of the parent as the teacher’s helpers
All presented through lovely stories, movement to music activities, and topic-related board games, and fun-filled teaching props that the children can use to “touch and learn”
The MYC student books are FILLED with FUN ideas to help stay organized, for example there is a paged called “I AM A STAR” where the child proudly puts a sticker after performing the piece for a friend or family member.
YOU WILL LOVE IT ! YOUR CHILD WILL LOVE IT!
Note that this is a successful method for learning music because parents attend the classes and are able to understand how to help with the home practice time, and because there are many policy and procedures developed with the input of many teachers and families over the 45 year history of the Music for Young Children organization. These proven policies and procedures that teachers follow is simply referred to as “THE MYC WAY”.
Come and join us for the next session starting soon, please enquire at 905-508-0458 or contact LizCouture@hotmail.com and we can start as soon as there are at least 4 people registered for the class, so start dates are TBD (call a friend with a child who is the same age to get it moving forward sooner)
Ms Liz will joyfully share with her students a wide understanding of music in our world, from a background that includes professional gigs, choir in the community, musical theatre group, examination accompanist, and from a longtime association with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). Teacher is also trained in SmartStart (TM), Dalcroze, and Orff methods in pedagogy. Students who graduate from MYC are then considered and well prepared for a customized program of piano learning that may, upon request, include preparations for RCM exams 2 through 8 levels which include practical and theoretical examination preparation.

Thank you for considering one of the best programs around for yourself or your child. MYC is an organization that gives back to the community, and so Ms Liz is taking applications to mentor new teachers and have them join the lessons as TA (teaching assistants) as long as they are at RCM Level 8 piano or above. Also, we do promote various community and fundraising efforts through the year.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about MYC and Ms Liz’s offerings.
