If there is anything to get excited about it is MYC Music for Young Children's Program. A creative way of learning to play the piano.
Along with learning to play the piano, children sing, learn solfège-pitch training, ensemble playing, movement to music, rhythms, composition, and note reading .

Teacher Christine focus is to convey to the student the love of music through song, rhythm, movement, composition, keyboard, games and fun activities. These creative pursuits motivate the student and parent in the learning process.
Christine has several years of  teaching experience of piano to  children as young as one years old and as old as someone in their 70's. She teaches music to children in small groups as well as private lessons.

Christine has studied the Royal Conservatory of Canada curriculum under  Registered Music Teacher Charlotte Hale in Victoria, B.C., and Miriam Lancaster in Courtenay, B.C. Christine has completed  levels one through 10 by  private lessons and University and  studied theory rudiments, harmony, counterpoint, history, keyboard classical harmony and jazz harmony, music composition and pedagogy, and completed exams.

In addition, she has taken  Teaching Training with the Royal Conservatory of Canada for the elementary levels and intermediate levels. Christine has an Associate of Music degree from the Vancouver Island University majoring in classical piano (grade 10 RCM piano) and singing as a secondary instrument, and pursued post-baccalaureate degree in music from the university of Lethbridge, Alberta.

Under the tutelage of RCM Teacher Cindy Taylor  in Campbell River, BC., she  took training in the “how to teach” and  studied sixteen different piano methods over a period of three years. Recently she has followed courses in the BA of Music Program  at the University of Lethbridge with Dr. Deanna Oye., 2020-2023, receiving “A” in piano studies.  At present she continues to develop her  craft professionally under the tutelage of Concert pianist and  teacher Charlotte Hale.

Christine is a member of the TEACHERS - BC - YT Music Group, auxiliary member of the BC Registered Music Teachers of Victoria, BC. she been an auxiliary member of the BC North Island Registered Music Teacher's Association and   a member of the Piano Society of the Comox Valley.
She has put students in the RCMusic Exams here in Victoria and Courtenay, as well as  the Campbell River Music Carnival(Festival) and the Courtenay Music Festival.  Christine has been  teaching  at Tom Lee Music in Victoria, BC., up until recently when the Academy closed.

Christine's students perform well in recitals and workshops receiving recognition and certificates.

Students have achieved high marks in practical piano exams, including 'First-Class Honours with Distiction.'

Teaching Methods - Adapts teaching styles to individual student needs and learning styles, incorporates 'chording' in private lessons for contemporary music skills, uses MYC 'Music for Young Children' program for holistic learning.

Curriculum and Materials - MYC Music Materials for Group Classes.

Private lessons - Faber & Faber and Alfred method books for foundational learning. Emphasizes solid foundational skills before introducing the Royal Conservatory Graded system. Provides structured practice schedules for students to follow at home.

Workshops and Recitals

Hosts four music workshops per year for performance practice.
Workshops focus on recital protocol, duet playing and improvisation
Aims to create a supportive and encouraging environment for students and parents
She had taught also at Dave's Keyboard Store when it operated in Courtenay as well as privately in my home.
Christine was the accompanist at the Unity Church in Courtenay BC for a period of three years.
Christine says “I love teaching and being creative and bringing the best out of each student and to ensure that my students enjoy and have fun at what they are doing! I am a creative, kind, courteous, and patient teacher.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and your child”, and the best of all "my students have FUN!

Christine’s Studio  has an upright piano, 6 keyboards, midi & cd player, colorful critter drawings, white board, rhythm instruments, and colorful teaching aids.

Her goal is for the students to have fun while learning to read and play music. She is very passionate about teaching, and knows your child will be inspired to learn while having fun. This is a parent and child participation music program. If a parent can not be available because of work or extending circumstances the child may be present with a guardian.

If a student is ill - a zoom lesson can be made available and or recorded.

My music studio is spacious, and bright. Each student has their own keyboard to play on. There are MYC critter pictures as well as colorful teaching aids. There is a floor keyboard  a floor music staff and creative fun learning games. A midi MT90 player  cd player. and rhythm instruments.
