About
Hi, I'm Carrie Bailey and welcome to my Riverside South Studio. I have been teaching Music for Young Children since 2002 and enjoying every minute of it!
I'm a Saskatchewan girl and proud of it, born into a musical family, growing up singing in the church, at various functions and with my family as I played the piano and my dad played the guitar beside me. There has always been something that has drawn me to it, leading me to pursue music after graduation and seeing me receive 2 music degrees. I had started teaching private voice and piano lessons when I was still in high school and during college I took a bit of a break from teaching. But soon after graduation I went back and started teaching again. Once I discovered this program I had a lot of fun teaching it and when I saw how much the kids and parents enjoyed it I knew that this is what I wanted to teach.
I've done double duty in this program - being both parent and teacher, which allows me to teach this program from a unique perspective. My three children have all graduated from Moonbeams 3. It has been fun to be able to see my own children's eyes light up as they understood a new concept or mastered a new technique.
My musical background includes 9 years as a Private Piano/Voice Instructor (previous to starting teaching MYC in 2002), Grade 9 RCM in Piano, 3 years Children's Musical Director, MYC Certified, BA in Music, BA in Worship Ministry, as well as Assistant Director of my College Choir and some Orchestral conducting. And, of course, teaching Music for Young Children since 2002 - I can't believe it's going on 24 years!
Studio Description
I teach these piano-based lessons in my teaching studio, located in my home with a separate entrance just for students and their families. It is conveniently located a few blocks from the Rideauview Community Center in Ottawa’s Riverside South and has great street parking.
I offer both in studio and online lessons. This hybrid ability allows students to have lessons online when someone in your family is travelling or not feeling well enough to come to class.
My studio includes: 6 keyboards (one for each student) Rhythm instruments Colorful teaching aids and Games

Rates and Prices
REGISTRATION FEES
There is a one time registration/admin fee that covers all materials needed for the year and is required to hold a place in the class for your child.
- Sunshine 1 (beginners age 4 by Dec 31, 2026) – $219.74
- Sunbeams 1 (beginners ages 5 - 6 by December 31, 2026) – $221.44
- Moonbeams 1 (beginners ages 7-9 by December 31, 2026) – $221.44
LESSON FEES
- Lesson fees are $102.00/month for 9 months. For each additional child the fee is $100.11/mth for 9 months.

This upcoming fall I will be offering:
- Sunshine 1 (Age 4 by Dec 31, 2026) on Tuesdays @ 5pm
- Sunbeams 1 (Age 5/6 by Dec 31, 2026) on Thursdays @ 5pm
I will not be offering Moonbeams 1 (age 7-9 by Dec 31, 2026) or private lessons this upcoming 2026/27 session.
