I am excited to be offering music classes to young children and Music for Young Children is such a wonderful program!  It is a comprehensive approach to teaching children the "happy habit of music-making", teaching them to read music and to play piano by ear.   The children will experience at an early age the joy that comes from being part of a band and we will use their first and most natural instrument, the voice, to develop sight-reading skills. My love of music-making began as a child and grew as I did.  I played piano and clarinet in bands, small ensembles and the Ottawa Youth Orchestra while studying with professional musicians from the National Arts Centre Orchestra.  My love of music inspired me to want to help others to experience the unique benefits music can provide and led me into post-secondary music studies.  I completed my Honors Bachelor of Music Therapy degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and enjoyed playing in a semi-professional orchestra as well as other ensembles.  I believe a good music teacher has high performance skills as well as the ability to adapt a curriculum to specific students. I am excited to bring to Music for Young Children my 20 years experience teaching music .  As well as MYC, I also offer guitar, recorder, flute and clarinet lessons at reasonable rates.  Family rates are available for multiple students in a family. I arrange for and lead a children's Orff ensemble  which performs in the Peel Music Festival and other showcases.  I have helped the Mississauga Children's Choir for 5 years.  I  led children's choirs and taught music classes to children of different ages. A special bonus offered at my studio is on-site childcare provided during lesson times so you can be available to help your child in his/her lesson while your other child/children are close by in a well-supervised and safe care setting.  An experienced and trained babysitter is available on-site at a very reasonable price.
