in teaching private piano lessons to children in Korea and in the U.S.
Hyewon joined the MYC program while she was in Minnesota in 2001. She
was so excited about the idea of teaching children in group lessons with

becoming bored and losing interest in music during the usual private lessons.

the MYC program to Korea. In January 2003 Frances and Gunars Balodis,

Michelle did her training for piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music (Piano) and enhanced her music education by becoming a certified Music For Young Children Teacher in 1997 after attending university. She has been teaching music for over a decade and loves kids even more than she loves music. Michelle 's studio is located in Kelowna where she maintains a busy schedule offering the Music For Young Children Program. She is a huge advocate for music education and believes that exposing children to music from an early age is essential. Michelle feels strongly that a child be given opportunity to learn an instrument at a young age -- her bias is the piano as it gives the basis for most any instrument. Her heart is that children develop a love for music and a healthy outlet that will serve them a lifetime of expression and enjoyment.

Heather Brannon was first introduced to Music for Young Children when her oldest daughter began the program in 2001. The fun learning environment and age-appropriate materials give young children a wonderful introduction to music. Heather believes that all children should have the opportunity to experience how fun music can be. Music for Young Children is not just another activity to enroll your child in – it is an education. So many of her student's parents say “If my music lessons had been this much fun, I might have continued on!”

Geraldine Mitchell loves to teach children because they have such a huge desire to learn new things. You can tell when you see those big attentive eyes looking at you when you’re telling those little critter stories to learn the names of the keys on the keyboard. When your child is put in a fun and exciting environment like this, what happens is they grasp everything they can of what they’re being taught. Geraldine has been taking piano since she was 5 years old and has enjoyed every minute of it. She has grade 8 piano and grade 2 rudiments and thoroughly enjoys teaching MYC to her students.

Sue Heidebrecht has spent many years providing accompaniment for high school and adult choirs. This along with a thriving private studio was very satisfying to her. However, in July, 2004, she moved to Kemptville in order to be closer to her grandchildren.
Starting with beginners in a new location forced her to look for methods involving younger children. Having taught private lessons in southern Ontario for 30 years, she felt like she walked down a corridor in her music house and opened a door to a room full of Music for Young Children.
A seasoned educator, Krista Quenneville has discovered her calling to be the sharing of music knowledge and skills with young children and their parents. The synergy created by the small-group dynamic motivates participants to achievements beyond those easily attained by the individual. The Music for Young Children program is consistent with Krista's values: Well thought-out pedagogical progression and hard work, imbued with activities to capture the child's imagination, result in the proud mastery of life-long skills, both musical and those which are transferable throughout life.
Martha Shaw-Murphy started teaching the Music for Young Children Program in 1999, and brings with her more than 20 years of musical instruction and theory, in various formats.
Martha has a strong commitment to teaching music. “My goal is to provide students with a high quality educational program which promotes a strong love of music.”
Martha completed her Grade Eight Mount Allison University music exam, before starting to teach music and continues to supplement her education to remain current. In addition to the MYC workshops she has attended, she has also taken supplemental instruction in organ and hand/tone bells.
Martha is married and is the mother of three children of various ages. In her spare time, Martha provides her services for the various churches around the Moncton area as a part-time organist and has directed several hand/tone bell choirs as well. Her increasingly popular summer music camps have been ongoing for the last six years.
