MYC Music for Young Children

Genevieve Hudson

Kingston East, Ontario

BIO

Hi! Welcome to my Studio. I am the MYC teacher for the Kingston-East area. I have been teaching MYC for 10 years and just completed my fourth year at my home studio!

I am conveniently located very close to the Waaban bridge which is finally all finished now! Yay! But you will still have to arrive at my studio from the Pt Saint Mark's entrance. Going home you have a choice!

Prior to MYC, I taught as a general classroom teacher for the Toronto and Prince Edward County school boards as well as for a local education authority just outside of London, England.  After returning to Canada, I taught music for the UCDSB in the primary and junior grades as well as at the Intermediate and High School level. My continuing education has included Special Education parts 1 and 2 as well as Intermediate vocal music qualifications.

At the same time, my desire to foster music development in the early years led me to participating in Early Childhood Music Education workshops and courses. I completed the Royal Conservatory of Music's Music in Early Childhood certificate as well as their Level I certification programs in both Kodaly and ORFF music methodologies.

I soon discovered MYC and was delighted to find I could combine my three passions; music, teaching and working with children. The MYC program is the only child-centred music learning system that integrates keyboard, creative movement, rhythm, singing, ear training, sight reading, music theory and composition. I encourage all of you to join this program today and make it a part of your life.

I generally send out my policy letter to all my MYC families a few weeks before classes start in September.

I feel it is important to meet each family member that will be attending class (whether parent & child, or grandparent/caregiver/relative).

Studio Address and Contact

27 Loradean Cres., Kingston East

The studio is in a lovely bungalow that has a side entrance on the right.  There, a door leads to a bright stairwell that opens out to a beautifully finished  basement. A spacious bathroom is immediately on the left. French doors lead to a large bright studio. There are several keyboards and an upright piano lined along the walls with posters and pictures as little reminders. All other materials (instruments, puppets, games) are on shelves, easily accessible. There is a large space in the middle where we gather and where most of the instruction takes place.
