ABOUT MISS AMY:
Music has always been an important part of my life! Being raised in a very musical family, a love for the arts was instilled in me at a very young age. I love every aspect of music, and have studied various instruments, including the flute for 6 years, and piano since the age of 5. I enjoy singing and have traveled throughout Canada and the USA performing in choirs, bands and ensembles, and now volunteer as a vocal coach with the RHS Show Choir. I also love being on stage and have starred and performed in several community theater productions throughout Southern Alberta over the years.

Now as a mother of 5 children, I've carried this passion and love of music into my own home. I feel that music helps to develop the human soul, and I'm convinced that EVERYONE has the ability to find and express the music within!!

I began teaching private piano lessons in 2000, and MYC in 2007.

I have my grade 9 piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music,
I am a qualified MYC teacher for Sunrise and all MYC core piano courses.

I'm so excited to offer the Music for Young Children program in my home studio. I feel this is the best program available to not only motivate your child, but to have fun & strengthen the relationship between you and your child! In my opinion, the MYC program, provides the best foundation for further study in piano or any other instrument!

ABOUT MYC:

MYC is so much more than piano lessons!!
Some of the things that make MYC such an extraordinary program:
* Parent/Child learning experience
* Age-appropriate teaching techniques
* Social learning environment
* Comprehensive music theory
* Composition festival
* Fun & creativity to provide a positive learning environment

Each class contains a small group of children & their parent. The concepts of piano are taught in a variety of fun age appropriate activities such as stories, puppets and games. MYC piano class provides instruction in ear training, sight reading, composition, singing, rhythm, movement & FUN!

The core beginner piano programs are:
SUNSHINES (ages 4-5)

SUNBEAMS (ages 6-7)

MOONBEAMS (ages 8-10)

All piano core classes are parented, small group beginner lessons for 1-hour long each week from mid-September through May.

Non-piano course:

SUNRISE (preschoolers age 2-4 years old!)
This parented 10-week non-piano music/movement class gives toddlers & preschool aged children an introduction to music with rhythm instruments, singing, games, stories, puppets and crafts, and is a great prep for the older piano levels! Sunrise has 3 progressive 10-week blocks available (SR1, SR2, SR3).

I'm convinced that MYC is the revolution in early music education, and I'd love to help you & your child learn the "happy habit of music".

***Classes are open for registration! I'm excited to be receiving your registration. A note regarding this website - when it says you are registered it means that your information will come to me as an inquiry. I will follow up to your email to finish the registration as this also gives you an opportunity to meet me and to see if MYC is the right fit for you and your child.

Parents are an important part of the MYC program! Each child will be accompanied by a parent (or another adult caregiver) who will actively participate in class and assist with home practice sessions.

All students are required to have a keyboard or piano at home by the start of lessons.

A separate policy letter will be emailed to you. This needs to be signed as part of your registration.
