Housekeeping

  • This is the time for you and your child to focus on music. Therefore, I ask that no siblings be brought to music class unless a special arrangement has been made with me beforehand.
  • Please notify me promptly if your child must miss class.  There is no lesson fee refunds for missed classes.
  • Classes which must be canceled because of inclement weather, illness, etc. will be rescheduled at a time convenient to most students.
  • Please remember that I am reserving your child's spot in my teaching schedule for the full MYC year.  For this reason, I am asking you to "hang in there" for at least the first eight non-refundable lessons to  get used to new friends and new activities.  If for some reason, following these first eight classes, you must withdraw your child from the program, please give me at least four weeks notice before stopping classes.
  • I welcome your feedback about the MYC program.  If you have any ideas or concerns that you wish to discuss with me, please let's arrange a time outside of class to talk.
  • You are welcome to bring slippers to wear in the music studio.  However, please leave outdoor footwear in the designated area
  • Please try to ensure that your child uses the washroom, if necessary, either before or after class.
  • If another class is still in progress when you arrive, please wait quietly in the waiting room at the end of the downstairs hallway.
  • Parent participation is mandatory of all MYC classes
  • a piano or keyboard is required for students to practice on
  • Thank you!

Homework

  • For children to succeed, ensure there is some time to practice every day.  When beginning, practicing can be as short as 5 min. a day and incorporates singing, rhythm, and keyboard.
  • Make practice time a special time for your child

Recitals

  • We have a minimum of one recital per year in addition to other performance opportunities.
