MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN PROGRAM

Music for Young Children program is child-centered music-learning system that integrates keyboard,creative movement, rhythm, singing, ear training, sight reading, music theory and composition. MYC helps participants-children and parents-develop a firm, fundamental understanding of music. Children who complete the most advanced level of MYC training are well prepared for intermediate piano studies ,or study of another instrument.
Please call to arrange time and day  for free assessment of your child.This will allow you along with the teacher's help  to find  the best class placement.

• Because this is a full year program and you are reserving a spot in my class for the whole year, you must be serious about "sticking with it". Please do not decide on withdrawal without considering all other options. The four weeks notice of cancellation is required when tuition is due for that month. If the cancellation happens no more than 2 month from the beginning of the program, books and all other materials could be returned to the teacher to allow another child to fill in the class with a discounted material price. The payment of $30.00 will be refunded to you.
• I see my music classes  always as a partnership between the child, parent and the teacher. MYC parents are important people! Their presence helps provide stability and security to the child. They are also a vital part of the MYC program. It is teamwork! Your child is special and deserves undivided attention in the class. Please note: Do not bring other children in your family to class. This disrupts the other students’ attention. The classes run more efficiently when homework is completed and at least 5 days of practice is done.
• I expect about 20 min of practice for Sunbeams and Moonbeams and 10-15 min of practice for Sunshine. It is very important for Mom or Dad to manage the home practice for the child at least for the first year. Lots of praise and a gentle reminder of practice is all that is needed. If your child is experiencing difficulty in a particular area, you can let me know what he or she enjoys the most and through that we can work through the most difficult parts together.
• A piano or a touch-sensitive keyboard is required for the student to practice on. Allow your child to discover. Be patient. Class time is a learning experience and not a competition. When difficult areas arise, continue to be positive and encourage your child. 
•  If you are planning to miss lessons for the length of time, please notify me in advance, so I can set up material for you for that time. If I have to cancel a class or classes will be canceled because of the weather I will make every effort to reschedule the class to a time suitable for all. There are no refunds for missed lessons.
• If you know someone who would like to join the class, please have them contact me. For each new signed up student that has been referred from you, I offer 2 lessons free of tuition for your child!
• The benefits of studying music at an early age are well documented. In addition to pleasure in creating the beautiful sounds, learning to play an instrument helps develop motor skills and good memory.  Group music lessons also teach children self-discipline, concentration, and cooperation. Music theory helps them with abstract thinking and building their ability to pay attention.  Children begin to work out detailed solutions and organize their time to meet deadlines. I want your child to succeed! My goal is to teach my students to create beautiful sounds by playing piano, sight read songs and tunes they like, sing the songs in tune and most of all understand and enjoy the music for the rest of their lives. The MYC program is the best in building the good foundation for that.

Music, Your Best Choice 

 This program is designed for students ages 14 till 100...from a wide variety of musical backgrounds with varying levels of skills. Adults who sing in choirs or who study vocal music will benefit greatly from this course.

    The course curriculum includes:
warm ups, playing by ear, harmonizing a melody line, singing, pattern and interval study, theory, reading music in solo and ensemble setting, stress and relaxation in sound production, rhythm ensemble, history highlights, visual and auditory analysis, composition, style and expression.
    Classes are one hour long once a week. There are 2 sessions of 22 weeks each  available per year with a break in summer. Class size is 5 students. 
    There are no refunds for missed classes. 2 make up classes will be offered in the end of each session for missed classes as a group or private setting.

SUNRISE

    The goal of the Sunrise program is to provide an introduction to the world of music to the very young child and develop his or her music confidence. Activities are developed to teach how to keep a steady beat, sing in tune and understand music concepts such as dynamics, tempo, simple rhythm and music patterns.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
 The class of no more than 10 children will meet for the 45-minute lessons once a week. Included in each lesson will be both group and individual singing, listening activities, playing of rhythm instruments, creative movement activities for fine and gross motor skills and rhythm development. One session is 10 weeks. Up to 3 sessions are available before continuing into the core MYC program. Sunrise students take part in MYC recitals during the year and are invited to participate in other MYC Studio performances.

 DISCOUNTS
 There is a 20% discount for the siblings in the same program.   

REFUND POLICY
 There is no refund for the CD and other materials.Tuition fee  which was paid upfront is 100% refundable before the first class.
There are no refunds after the first class.
 
CANCELATIONS
 If class will be canceled because of the weather conditions or teacher's illness, session will be resumed the following week. There will be no refunds for missed classes. One make up class will be offered in the end of the session.

EXPECTATIONS FROM PARENTS
 Please be on time. Class starts 3 min after the schedule time. Please don't bring siblings to class unless you have an exceptional situation. Parents accompany children in the class, but  participation is optional. Practice song and other activities with your children during the week. They love it! If your child starts to behave inappropriate, please, be patient with your child and give me a chance to handle stressful situation first.

MUSIC PUPS CLASSES

  The goal of the Music Pups program is to provide an introduction to the world of music to the very young child and achieve his or her basic music confidence. Basic music confidence is defined as the ability to sing in tune and keep a steady beat.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
 Music Pups class is informal music class which is part of The Music Class program (www.themusicclass.com) Class is not intend to make children to perform, but stimulate their leaning process through play and other music activities. The class of no more than 10 children will meet for the 45-minute lessons once a week. Included in each lesson will be both group and individual singing, listening activities, playing of rhythm instruments, creative movement activities for fine and gross motor skills and rhythm development. Sessions: one session of  10 weeks (materials fee is included) or 2 session of 4 weeks each (songs can be downloaded from the website).Up to 4 full sessions are available before continuing into Sunrise or the core MYC keyboard based program.

DISCOUNTS
 There is a 50% tuition discount for the siblings in the same program.
Babies, younger than 6 month of age, are free as long as at least one child from the family is signed in the program.

REFUND POLICY
 There is no refund for the CD and Songbook. Tuition fee, which was paid upfront, is 100% refundable before the first class. There are no refunds after the first 4 classes.
 
CANCELATIONS
 The session could be canceled or rescheduled to the next month, because of insufficient registrations. If class will be canceled because of the weather conditions or teacher's illness, session will be resumed the following week. There will be no refunds for missed classes. One make up class will be offered in the end of the session for the missed classes if more than 5 children will register.

EXPECTATIONS FROM PARENTS
 Please, be on time. Class starts 3 min after the schedule time. Have fun and show your enthusiasm during the class! Parent's participation in the class is essential! Children learn from their parents and caregivers. Practice song and other activities with your children during the week too. Children love it!
Please don't bring older siblings, who are not signed in program unless an exceptional situation occurs. Children's cry is not going to disturb me. Please keep reminding older children not to touch the piano and keyboards in the classroom. I would greatly appreciate that.

 EXPECTATIONS FROM CHILDREN
 Children are free to move around the room as they please-as long as they are safe-please keep them in sight. Please no food or drinks in the class except bottles for infants.
More rules of the room will be touched on in the first class. Feel free to ask or suggest anything that will make everyone more comfortable and welcome.  If you know someone else who may be interested in the program, please call me as soon as possible. Registration fee is $30.00. It is a onetime payment. To register, please send a Registration Form along with the check to the studio, attention: Mila Nicklow. Students are responsible to buy their own books. Your  instructor will help you to choose the right ones. Gently used books, except theory books, are available for 50% discounted price at the studio.
 First introductory class is free.

Tuition is due on the first day of each month. Prorated tuition will be calculated if you start your lessons in the middle of the month. If you would like your child to perform at the Mila's Music Studio recital, there will be the additional $20.00 fee for each recital.

To achieve a certain progress in study of music and an instrument minimum practice is expected at home. For younger students we recommend 10-15 min a day. Each song needs to be played 5 times. It will be their “magic number” .Theory pages, finger warm-ups, rhythm patterns and other activities can be alternated on the different days of the practice. For students 8 years old and older we suggest 20-30 min of practice a day. Scales, finger warm-ups, etudes need to be practiced every time. For the   ideas and suggestions how to make your child's home practice more productive and less stressful please ask your instructor.

Please let your teacher know that your child or you are experiencing frustration or misunderstanding. He or she will work with you or your child additionally for the reasonable amount of time. All other issues please direct to me. We, as instructors want our students to feel strong and proud about their achievements in music, but we cannot underestimate parent’s involvement in child's learning process of music instrument. Four weeks notice of cancellation of classes is required. The payment is due for that month.Two absences without the communication, or unpaid lessons for 15 or more days will result in the termination of lessons. As a courtesy of the teachers I require 24 hours advance notice for the lesson cancellation. Studio may be closes for a few "snow days" following Medina City School District School closing. Please contact the studio for the verification.

No refunds will be given for missed or cancelled lessons. However 4 (four) excused schedule's conflict/sickness credits per calender year may be used at your discretion, provided that you comply with 24 hours cancellation policy. Make up lessons are at the discretion of a teacher and are not guaranteed.

HOLIDAY AND VACATIONS
        It will be no classes on Thanksgiving Day, one week at Christmas time and one week of teacher’s vacation. If you are going to miss classes for your vacation or an other reason for more than 4 weeks your tuition paid upfront for that period of time will be refunded to you during 5 business days.

Suzuki Violin Group Lessons

(Ages 3 and up)

The Suzuki Philosophy emphasizes learning through listening, imitation, repetition, games, and practice-with the teacher, parent, and student working as a team. The parent participates in the lesson and guides home practice. Listening daily to recordings of the music the children will play is an essential part of the method. Private  30 min lessons  are required  as an addition to the group lessons to progress in violin study.
