Hi! I'm Michelle Miller!
Welcome to my MYC website! You can also visit my blog: www.mmmusicstudio.wordpress.com
I am so excited to offer MYC music classes and piano classes as well as private piano lessons from my Northeast Edmonton music studio (South Clareview area).
Why MYC??? Because it's:
FUN: games and activities create a positive and exciting learning environment!
MOTIVATING: Children are motivated by peer participation, dynamic group activities and the support of their parents who attend with them and learn for free!
COMPREHENSIVE: while the keyboard is the main instrument and focus it is so much more than just piano lessons. Each week involves ear training, sight reading, movement. solfege, rhythm instruments and even composing!!!
It is the perfect foundation for the pursuit of any instrument! Gift your child the gift to last a lifetime...the happy habit of learning music!
A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I have over 15 years of teaching experience. I began teaching private piano lessons in a small home studio setting in 1994 with the goal of fostering a lifelong love of music in my students. I've also had the joy of teaching Music in Early Childhood music classes for Alberta College Conservatory of Music from 1998-2005 as a member of the Conservatory faculty. I enjoy learning myself and attend several professional developments each year in order to offer my students the highest quality of instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS: I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Trinity Western University, Langley, BC, Grade 10 Piano, Grade 5 History and Grade 5 Harmony from the Royal Conservatory of Music and completed the ARCT Teacher's Written Piano Exam with Honors.
I love singing and playing the piano as well as musical theatre. I have had the honor of performing as principal keyboardist with a US based orchestra that toured the continental US and Israel during 1996. I've performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as part of the TWU chorus in several choral productions including Haydn's Creation, Handel's Messiah and Mendolssohn's Lobgesang. And I had the wonderful opportunity to portray the character of Sonia in a 2007 production of Godspell. But my greatest joys in life are my two children!
