Maggie Lockhart is
a piano teacher with over twenty years of teaching experience. Located
in the Mission area of Kelowna, students come
from West Kelowna, Rutland, Kettle Valley, and the surrounding areas
to study with Maggie. Maggie instils a passion and love for music to her
students. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and love for music (and her students),
provides a supportive learning environment which inspires students to musical
excellence.
Maggie has learned
to tailor each lesson to most benefit the personality and learning style of the
individual. Her students have performed in recitals and music festivals, and
have completed Royal Conservatory of Music exams, achieving high marks.
Bio (About)
Maggie
received her Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto in classical Piano
Performance, is a BC registered music teacher and a member of the Canadian
Federation of Music Teachers, and continues her study in piano pedagogy.
Maggie
is passionate about music and teaching, and continues to develop her own
playing and broaden her knowledge of piano repertoire to best serve the needs
of her students.
Lessons
Lesson terms run
from September to June, and students may also continue lessons throughout the
summer months. Lessons
are structured to accommodate the needs of each individual student.
Below is a
general idea of how much lesson time is required at each level. Lesson time
could be more, depending on the student's goals.
Beginner 30 minute lessons, weekly
Intermediate 45 minute lessons, weekly
Advanced 60 minute lessons, weekly
High School Accreditation
You can earn
credit for a high school music course by completing the following exams through
the Royal Conservatory of Music:
Grade 10: Grade 6 Practical AND Grade 2 Theory
Grade 11: Grade 7 Practical AND Grade 2 Theory
Grade 12: Grade 8 Practical AND Grade 2 Theory

Music is my passion! Even as a young child, I knew that one day I would be a music teacher.
I grew up in a musical family, and have such fond memories of lots of singing and playing at the piano with family and friends. I feel so privileged to have been able to take piano lessons with my Mom as my teacher.
My Mom, an excellent, (and extremely patient teacher), taught me right through to my ARCT. (Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto). Our times together at the piano, and our love for music have created a lasting bond, and I want to pass this ‘gift’ on to other parents with their children. My goal as a music teacher is to inspire a love and passion for music in all of my students, and to raise up excellent musicians.
