Cancellation Policy
All registration fees are non-refundable and tuition credit will not be given for missed lessons; however, lessons cancelled by Kathy will be refunded. Students should not come to lessons if they are very ill. Every effort will be made to reschedule should a student be very ill, but due to the “full” studio situation parents must understand that make-up lessons may not always work out.
Studio Policies
- Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled lesson. Keep shoes and boots at the studio entrance. Coats and jackets may be hung up in the studio. A washroom is available for your comfort at the bottom of the stairs. Group lesson parents/caregivers must write down the lesson homework assignment posted on the bulletin board.
- Come prepared with your music bag and appropriate curriculum. Dress comfortably—slippers and indoor shoes can be worn if desired.
- It is expected that a student practice daily---but in a realistic world this is quite impossible for many families ---4-5 times per week should be a minimum. The amount of time spent practicing takes a back seat to the quality of practice. Please provide a quiet, unstressed environment for the student at home. Parent/caregiver supervision of practice is expected. Practice should be a happy discipline !!
- Group lesson parents/caregivers must attend lessons. Private student parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons. Siblings and parents are allowed to wait in the family room while lessons are occurring---there is a computer, keyboard and X-Box available. Very young siblings (unless babes in arms) should not attend a lesson since they can be a distraction; however, they are very welcome if at-home-care is occasionally not available.
- Recitals and Festival participation is expected.
- Group lessons run from Sept. until the end of May. Private lessons run from Sept through mid-June.
- Summer lessons are always available for practical and theory courses.
- The studio will be closed for regular school holidays other than PD days. Saturday lessons will not occur during Thanksgiving, Easter , May long weekend or Christmas---enjoy your family during that time!
