About Sunrise:

The Sunrise program offers an introduction to music through rhythm and singing. Sunrise lays strong foundations for both keyboard and academic achievement, with an emphasis on rhythms, patterns, and left-to-right reading.

Each class is 45 minutes long and is attended by 4-6 children and their parents/caregivers. It is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child in a fun learning environment, and to give them experience learning in a group setting and interacting with other children in an organized yet playful format.

Children will sing many songs, including old favorites (such as "Old MacDonald"), new songs written especially for the Sunrise program (such as "Buddy Croak"), and personalized songs using the children's own names (such as "________ had a Drum"). Rhythm is taught using bears: Walking Bear is a quarter note (1 beat), Standing Bear is a half note (2 beats), and so on.

Classes also include rhythm instruments, stories, games, stickers, and movement.

Students will have opportunities to perform informally at a retirement home and will participate in the year-end recital in May with keyboard students.
