A parent or other responsible adult if with the child during class time.  Parents participate in class activities, and help their child to learn to take directions from the teacher.

All levels require parent assistance in practising.

Five days is the expected performance of parent/child at home.  I am aware that 5 days some weeks is not possible, but consistancy makes for success.

If parents have any questions or concerns, PLEASE call the studio to express them. There is no such thing as a silly question, and I appreciate any communication that may help in the joy of musical discovery with your child.

1. Payment may be made in two ways:

- Three posted dated cheques dated for the first class, Nov. 1, and March 1 of the following calendar year.

- Nine post-dated cheques dated for the first of each month from September through June.

2.  Post-dated cheques are due the first class - no exceptions.

3. Once a child has been registered in a class, it is expected that he/she will carry on through the whole year except in the case of extended illnesses or family relocation.  In any case the fees from September through Decemeber are non-refundable.  After that time, a one-month fee is required after the student has stopped lessons.

4. We do not have a child care or baby sitting service at the studio, so siblings are required to stay at home during class time.

5. To minimize distractions for students and teacher in class, please limit visiting and talking to outside the class time.  Use your 'whispering channel' when speaking to your child in class.

6. Please keep the calendar you are given handy to keep track of holidays, events and other details for the studio.   Events are also on this website.

7. Advance notice needs to be given to the teacher is a student has to miss a class for and IMPORTANT reason.  Otherwise, it will be assumed the student and parent will be in attendance.

8. Please be  PUNCTUAL in your arrival for class.  A late commer disturbs the class, and time is valuable, so missed material will not be re-covered.

9. If your child is sick, by all means, do NOT come to class.  Other families do not appreciate spreading germs, and the teacher has not substitute, so missed teaching time is a real inconvenience.

10. If you have to miss a class, please phone the studio within 24 hours to write down the homework assignment.  The lesson can be explained on the phone, and your child will not feel out of place at the next class.  Also, my H2 recorder can record the class and it can be emailed to be heard by the child and the parent at home.

11. Parents are EXPECTED to ask questions and take notes during class so that you will be better able to help your child at home.   The success of the MYC program depends to a large extent on the enthusiastic participation of the parents.

THANK YOU for choosing Music for Young Children to share music with your child!
